REMEMBRANCE

When I am gone,

Please remember me

As a heartfelt laugh,

As a tenderness.

Hold fast to the image of me

When my soul was on fire,

The light of love shining

Through my eyes.

Remember me

When I was singing

And seemed to know my way.

Remember always

When we were together

And time stood still.

Remember most

Not what I did,

Or who I was --

Oh please remember me

For what I always

Desired to be:

A smile on the face of God.

The promise of redemption

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early. The heathen raged, the kindgoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.

Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he hath made in the earth. He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.

Psalm 46

Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it, have never known it again.

The day we stormed the Chihuahua

This day in history ...

French revolutionaries storm the Bastille (1789)

The Sedition Act becomes federal law (1798)

Lord Byron returns to England after a two-year trip (1811)

The Battle of Tupelo, Mississippi, is fought in the American Civil War (1864)

Outlaw Billy the Kid is shot to death (1881)

Future United States President Gerald R. Ford is born (1913)

Richard Speck brutally murders eight nurses in Chicago (1966)

Hank Aaron hits 500th homer (1968)

A revolutionary new technology is christened "MP3" (1995)

Javier Guillermo the Chihuahua is born in Zanesville, Ohio (1999)

:~D :~D :~D :~D

Yes ... many important dates in history coincide with Javier's arrival. At our house, being confirmed Francophiles, we prefer to emphasize that Bastille Day happened to fall on Javier's birthday ... albeit two hundred and ten years before his birth.

A mere trifle, that.

Javier was about as patient as one would expect an eleven-year-old Chihuahua to be for his birthday photo shoot. Erica and I really put him through his paces.

I think when it was over he wanted to sign up with Napoleon's army in order to get some rest.

But only under one condition: that he is required to go nowhere near the Arc de Triomphe.

All will be forgiven when he gets to eat some of the baguette

Click on the screen below to see the video! It'll take you to Picasa (thanks again for the guidance in that arena, cherished reader Sue O.).

Don't be afraid! Click and enjoy.

Javier thanks you.

Remember to watch in full-screen mode! It's more fun that way.

Happy Birthday to Javier! He did great on his photo shoot!

Haha, that was hilarious. And sweet. That boy has a TONGUE! Long live Javier! Javier rules! Did he tell you to eat cake? Bastille Day has nothing on his birthday.
In a case of curious coincidence, CJane's blog today was about France, the link is on my sidebar.

Mari, I think he did great too! Secretly I believe he revels in all the attention.

Sue, we crack up when -- quite by accident -- we get a shot of that tongue all the way out. Where does he PUT it all in that little mouth? LOLOL he's a noodle. I'll check out CJane's blog!

Happy Birthday, dear Javier. Very nice movie! The French music was perfect!

Well HAPPY CHIWAWA birthday! LOL OK, so I have to scroll up to spell it. ha ha! But seriously... wonderful puppy days!

Penelope our Beagle would never had sat still for similar pictures with a hat on, ha. I liked them all, but the ones of her snuggled into her blanket were so sweet.

July 14, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterDebbie

!!!! That was soooo cute! I loved the ones at the beginning with the hat on and the little suitcase and the Eiffel Tower in the background. And he looked like he was really in France on the Champs Elysees!

July 15, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAudrey

Margaret, I hope Edith Piaf wouldn't mind her beautiful song accompanying such nonsense!

Katherine ... I have to think twice -- or three times -- every time I spell Chihuahua too!

Debbie ... Javier does love his down time! Penelope might take to modeling; you never know.

Audrey ... He did, didn't he? Just hangin' out on the Place Charles de Gaulle in the shadow of the Arc de Triomphe! He had fleurs de lis on his hat. He was stylin' like the French.
