What have we learned in nine years?

I believe Barack Obama may be the best thing that could have happened to post nine-eleven America.
Ever put your hand so close to an open flame that your hide was scorched and you got a taste of how much it would hurt to actually be burned?
Ever gotten too near the edge of a precipice where the rocks are loose, and slipped and fell, and were scared out of your wits but managed to regain your footing and save your life?
It would be a long time before you'd put your hand so near an open flame or walk so close to a cliff edge again.
Some Americans voted for our ultra-progressiliberal president two years ago. Shame on them; they knew what he was and what he wasn't.
They thought it was "historic" to flirt with the open flame and dance near the cliff edge.
Maybe now they see the error of their ways; maybe not.
Either way, come November, we're putting into motion the mechanism for taking it back.
I refuse to believe our beloved country's glory days are in the past.
But I hope we never go anywhere near the open flame or the cliff edge again in my lifetime, or my children's, or my grandchildren's.

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea.
O beautiful for pilgrim feet
Whose stern impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America!
God mend thine ev'ry flaw
Confirm thy soul in self control
Thy liberty in law.
O beautiful for heroes prov'd
In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved,
And mercy more than life.
America! America!
May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness
And ev'ry gain divine.
O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears.
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

"Never Forget"

I don't know that we learned anything, I think we're mellowing. It's not fresh news anymore and we're being politically correct TOO MUCH. I know kids who lost their dad in the Towers and everytime I see them, I think what did he pay for with his life, their lives are never going to be the same.
I have nothing to add to this - you've said it all~!
Couldn't have said it better myself. But you know, I think the reason BO got elected was the unthinking masses who were somehow charmed by his supposed good looks and charisma. Not that I can see it. But, in the long run, it may have been a good thing after all, because our eyes have been opened and our apathy is at an end. Not that I was ever asleep or apathetic, but, you know, some of us were!
Perfectly said, Jenny. Couldn't do it any better. All I can add today is the short Tweet I did a few minutes ago, which touches on yet another reason Obama is so inexplicably horrific:
"Dear Obama: Spend more time honoring & mourning the 9/11 victims; less time placating those who hate us."
Never forget.
I was flabbergasted that folks actually voted for PrezBO because he was black. Like, excuse me? You ignored the qualifications, character, and beliefs of the man, and voted in favor of the color of his skin? Are you kidding me??? I couldn't believe - and still can't - that folks would be so shallow in throwing away their votes like that. No big surprise on what kind of president he's been either.
This is a special day to pause and take stock of our freedoms and blessings. I hope and pray that we will survive and thrive in the days ahead. Novemeber can't come fast enough...
Very succinct. Thanks for posting. I love your new term "progressiliberal"...
AMEN, AMEN, AMEN!! As usual, perfectly and brilliantly said!
Never forget.
