Insist on yourself; never imitate.
Your own gift you can present
every moment
with the cumulative force
of a whole life’s cultivation;
but of the adopted talent of another
you have only an extemporaneous
half possession.
That which each can do best,
none but his Maker can teach him.

Also capturing outrageous beauty left and right with my Nikon D7000 blissfully married to my Nikkor 85mm f/1.4D AF prime glass. Don't be jeal.

When I am gone
Please remember me
As a heartfelt laugh,
As a tenderness.
Hold fast to the image of me
When my soul was on fire,
The light of love shining
Through my eyes.
Remember me when I was singing
And seemed to know my way.
Remember always
When we were together
And time stood still.
Remember most not what I did,
Or who I was;
Oh please remember me
For what I always desired to be:
A smile on the face of God.
Do not regret growing older. It is a privilege denied to many.

Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;
But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.
So then death worketh in us, but life in you.
We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I BELIEVED, AND THEREFORE HAVE I SPOKEN; we also believe, and therefore speak;
Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.
For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.
For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
II Corinthians 4

Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it, have never known it again.

That Vietnam memorial, of dog tags, has to be breathtaking.............. What else is there to say....
Have never been to Chicago. You have loved going there, I remember. But now..... After the Dems have ruined it.... -sigh-
Happy Memorial Day...

What, would they say, today...?????? Looking down and seeing the horrible state, of our Beloved Country? The Country our dead Warriors, laid down their lives for...?

It is truly amazing. I have never seen anything like it. Gorgeous, meaningful, and a stunning memorial!
Thank you for re-sharing that post. If I’m ever in Chicago again, I’d like to check it out. I hope you are having a peaceful holiday weekend filled with family and love.
@Mari-Nanci ... What would they say, indeed. So many have died seemingly in vain, both in that war and in the Middle East. In the end it seems, nothing changes. Nothing is gained. Very sad. Yes we love Chicago but have no plans to visit this year. We love attending Cubs games but we don't want to go back until Wrigley Field is at 100% occupancy on a game day or night. I hope you had a relaxing and peaceful Memorial Day!
@Ginny ... Indeed it is! xoxo
@Bijoux ... You are welcome and I know you would enjoy seeing Above and Beyond. I hope you have an opportunity to see it someday! And I hope your holiday was truly special too. xoxo
I remember you posting about this before. I'm glad you posted again - I was touched then and am again. It's a simply beautiful, entirely sad display.
And as Mari-Nanci said, so many lives lost. And what would they say if they saw what people are doing with the freedom they gave their lives for? It's a whole new tragedy.
Wow with the dog tags displayed like that! It had to be such an experience to see them in person. I would have been humbled to see them in person and probably would have shed a tear or two. So thankful for those who serve and are willing to serve knowing they might not make it back home to their loved ones.

I loved your post about Chicago. We've been there once but only for a short time so we didn't get to see much. We did see the bean though and took the required reflection picture! I sure would love to see the Vietnam memorial. That looks too cool!!
@Mari ... Isn't that the truth? They who fought in Vietnam were maligned by many at the time, and if they could see what has been made of the freedoms they fought for, I think they would grieve themselves to death again. Shame on us. xoxo
@betty ... Yes it was very humbling and I did get misty eyed, just as I did when I saw the wall in Washington DC with every name carved on it. It is a sad, sad thing to contemplate and when faced with the sheer numbers, it is easy to become overwhelmed. My TG told me and the kids over the Memorial Day weekend that of the more than 58,000 who lost their lives in Vietnam, 1,400 died on the day before they were set to go home. I think he said that 900 died on the first day they were there. God rest their souls. xoxo
@Jeanette ... You've seen the bean! It's stunning, isn't it? I hope you get to go to Chicago again, and to visit the Harold Washington Library and see the exhibit. Make sure to eat at Eleven City Diner too! xoxo
WOW.. I did not know about the Above and Beyond. Very POWERFUL and if that does not get your attention.. you should not live in the USofA!!!
I was blessed Monday as to how well our local Memorial Day Service was attended.. by young people! It gave me hope as I read T-shirts with sayings... If you can't stand for the flag, I will help you pack.
... Don't Tread on Me was another popular one.
@Carla ... That is wonderful news, especially coming out of Wisconsin! Young people embracing the exceptional qualities of America is what we need. I think I remember reading that Above and Beyond was supposed to be moved (imagine what an undertaking that would be) to another exhibit site, but either I misremember or it has stayed put due to Covid, because as far as I can tell, it's still at the Harold Washington Library Center in Chicago. I hope that someday you can go and see it! xoxo
