Ain't life grands
So a lot happened today and a lot is happening tomorrow, and I didn't get that post finished.
The one that I promised you mentioned that I may get done.
Perhaps later in the week.
Meantime here are some pictures of my adorable grandchildren, as per Mari's request.
Like a certain -- ahem -- duchess, what Mari wants, Mari gets.
Besides. It's easy. I mean, just look at them:
First there are the older three. The ones who live in North Carolina.
These were taken on Christmas Sunday. The girls are wearing the holiday dresses that TG and I bought for them. It's sort of a family tradition that we buy them these particular festive garments.
I say "sort of" because some years, we don't buy them Christmas dresses. It all depends.
Andrew got a Mister Rogers-ish sweater because I couldn't find a red one that I liked.
Didn't he look distinguished?
Speaking of being a sharp-dressed man, last Friday Andrew served as the male second-grade representative for his school's homecoming festivities.
It seems that homecoming isn't just for the big kids anymore; the "court" is comprised of students from all grades except kindergarten.
Just this once I will refrain from commenting except to say, weren't Andrew and his little female second-grade counterpart cute?
Speaking of cute.
Ember is now six weeks old. Every day or so, Brittany sends me a picture or two so that I can oooh and aaah ... and I do.
She's begun smiling at her parents and they're pretty much ready to expire with joy.
It's been like summer here but last week they were in Knoxville, and at least part of the time Ember had to bundle up.
Mothers and their babies. Enough said.
Speaking of mothers and their babies, Audrey brought Dagny to see us on Saturday and we had a nice long visit, and then I wondered if Dagny would like to spend the night, and it was agreed that she would.
She keeps a toothbrush at my place. And her bedroll, and many spare stuffed animals.
The only problem was that she'd been just a trifle under the weather.
So during the night, she had some problems with coughing and it cut short her rest. And mine.
I kept her home from church and eventually she felt well enough to eat a scrambled egg and a cheese stick.
But less than a half hour after that, she'd fallen fast asleep in the chair.
Today she had to stay home from school, feeling no better.
I admit that, being a die-hard Anglophile, I have been watching the developing news across the pond with veddy keen interest.
I feel for Queen Elizabeth, whom I admire a great deal.
I fear that, at her advanced age and with all that has transpired in recent months, her happiest days are behind her.
But I hope I'm wrong.
All we can do is revert to the tried and true sentiment that covers all eventualities: While there's life, there's hope.
Oh, and -- keep looking up.
And that is all for now.

Happy Monday

Awe, Jenny your grand's are so sweet and cute! I love seeing their photo's, just love.it. :)
As for across the pond; actually and I'm not sure why I feel this - but I do feel sorry for Prince William; Harry being his only sibling. :(
xoxo
I love seeing how all the Grands have grown. Second grade Andrew is a very dapper young man. (Homecoming court????) Ember is really focusing at a very young age. I wonder if she'll be tall like her daddy or petite like her mommy? Our Amanda (soon 17) is 5'11" and hopes maybe she'll soon stop growing. Her dad is 6'4". Amanda's twin brother is also 5' 11", and I think he still has a few inches to grow. The girls look really cute in their matching Christmas dresses. I hope you don't catch Dagny's bug! Stay well!
@Sally ... I feel for William and Kate too, because the whole thing is so silly. If Nutmeg was a team player all of this could have been avoided. Instead, she's out for number one and let the chips fall where they may. It's tragic. xoxo
@Barb ... I know; right? The homecoming court with second-graders on it ... I roll my eyes. Why not just make kids WAIT for special things like that? It will be special to see how Ember looks and how tall she grows as time goes by. She's a redhead like her mother; we're pretty sure of that! Haaahaa she is awfully cute. And I hope I don't catch Dagny's -- or anyone else's -- bug. And I hope you soon set sail for California and the beach that is calling your name! xoxo
I didn't know I had such power! But, I'm glad you listened to me. I enjoyed each and every photo!
Andrew is so dapper in the sweater and the suit. I forgot that he and Alaina are both in second grade. No homecoming in her school though. The girls are very pretty in their matching dresses.
Poor Dagny! Ruby has had a cold and cough and had to miss church too,
Ember is the sweetest, I am sure Andrew and Brittany are in shock at what a change this little life has brought to them, and by how much they love her!
Wonderful post with pictures of all the sweet kiddos...lof course, the baby always steals the show! I hope you have a wonderful week, sweet girl. xo Diana
@Mari ... The power of suggestion in this case was very welcome, hahaaa! I had a problem finishing what I'd started and posting these photos was easier than tackling that. So see? You both inspired and motivated me! I hope Ruby's feeling better! xoxo
@Diana ... Yes, the baby is irresistible! I hope your week is fantastic too, what with all that wonderful planning you have to do! xoxo
You have some very good looking grandchildren and Ember is just so adorable
@Jane ... Of course I agree and Ember really is something. She's extra. Thanks my friend xoxo
What a beautiful baby!
and the other kids are getting so big.
Grand babies, and Greats too, are what makes life so happy.
@Judy ... yes indeed! xoxo
