Ian rain

Skies above are blue again
Hurricane Ian gave us a lovely rainy day on Friday. I enjoyed every minute of it.
I feel guilty saying that; so many suffered and are still suffering, and will be for a long time.
Here, it rained steadily for about fifteen hours. Wind was not an issue and I don't know of anyone in our area who experienced property damage or flooding.
Brittany and Andrew drove twenty-two hours from West Oklahoma to South Florida, to help her grandparents. Andrew's military leadership gave their blessing to his being absent from training for a few days.
He will be flying back to Oklahoma tomorrow.
Brittany will stay on until the end of the week, and then drive with Ember to East Tennessee, where they have bought a house.
She'll set up housekeeping and wait for Andrew to finish training and be home in time for the holidays.
The situation with Brittany's grandparents is heartbreaking. They are not young people and this experience is overwhelming.
They need your prayers. Possibly the most urgent need right now is for power to be restored.
Here was my view for the duration of the storm on Friday. I will treasure the memory and I know how fortunate I am that it is a happy one.
And that is all for now.

Continued prayers for all Floridians, and especially for Brittany's grandparents. So very hard I'm sure to try to deal with it all. Will pray that power is restored sooner than later. Seems like you had a nice spot to watch Ian as it came through your part of the country, Jenny. I always say I enjoy watching a good storm as long as there isn't any damage with it. Thankful that your area didn't sustain the damage that Florida did.
betty
That is a beautiful view, with those palm trees swaying gently in the wind. And so glad it WAS GENTLY! I will pray for this couple!!!
I'm so glad Ian was kind to your area. That is the kind of lovely rain I enjoy. Love the video. Prayers for all.
Oh I feel so bad for Brittany's grandparents. I can't imagine starting over at that age! Hurray that your son and DIL are going to be moving back closer to you! Your view from your recliner is lovely, even with the rain, XO
So glad you did not suffer damage.
But so many did...
Best wishes to the Grand parents, who have suffered such devastation.
-sigh-
Gentle hugs...

I'm so glad you guys didn't have any serious weather.
Sad for Britanny's grandparents and others down there. A widow from our church lost her condo in Fort Myers. Another young lady from our church is on her way down to help her grandparents. Such devastation there!
That was nice that Andrew was able to leave his position to go to Florida to help out for a few days. I'm not a fan of the rain, but I'm glad you enjoyed it!
@Mari-Nanci ... Yes I am aware that many did suffer damage, and I said as much, because it's very real to me as I love Brittany's grandparents. We consider them dear friends and just saw them in June. The thousands of others, though unknown to me, break my heart too because their stories are no less important. I am praying for all of them daily! xoxo
@Mari ... It's devastating in its scope. I feel so trite saying "I cannot imagine," but I really can't! I've never experienced anything like that. I know that Americans are resilient, though, and that they always rise to the occasion and end up being stronger than ever. Andrew took the bull by the horns in that situation and they've got the Sextons' house down to the studs about halfway up the walls, and every water-logged thing removed, and the giant fans drying everything out. He broke his back working for three-plus days with several helpers, to get that done. I'm so glad he was able to go! While there's life, there is hope! xoxo
@Bijoux ... yes he made a difference and things are already vastly improved. There are several who have worked tirelessly for the last week, and some are still working, to get to a place where the house can be assessed and possibly rebuilt! I have many happy associations with rain, going back to childhood. My husband, who loves sunshine, thinks I'm nuts, haaahaa xoxo
Continuing to pray!!! Thank you for keeping us updated.
Love, Carla
Prayers have been going up for all in Florida, I will specifically add Brittany's grandparents. Bless Andrew and Brittany for taking on helping them in the recovery efforts. // We haven't had rain here for months... our state is having "exceptional" drought. It's so bad that the dry air quality is causing health problems for many people - I'm one of them. *cough hack cough hack* // On another level, YAY!! that Andrew and Brittany will soon be closer to you guys! // Big hugs and many blessings to you, my friend! 💕
@Carla ... thanks as always, my friend! xoxo
@Diana ... Yes we are so thrilled at the prospect of having Andrew and Brittany only four hours away instead of seventeen! Such a blessing.Thank you for remembering B's grandparents in your prayers. They are coping as best they can every day but it is so hard. Sorry about your drought and the way it affects your breathing! I hope a soothing soaking rain shows up soon! xoxo
