A Fascination With Fainting Goats
Monday, October 8, 2007 at 02:29PM In the annals of barnyardia, is there anything any more interesting than the fainting goat? I can't get enough of this kind of thing. These goats have some kind of genetic predisposition that makes their legs stiffen up (and themselves fall over) each time they get scared or excited about something ... even if they just see supper coming! It's so funny ...
I saw some fainting goats with my own eyes at the Museum of Appalachia in Norris, Tennessee, several years ago. The goats were gamboling about in a clearing, happy and free of care, on a beautiful spring day. A worker invited me to "scare" the goats by walking toward them and shouting. I did so and -- oh my soul! -- the goats started dropping like flies! I'd never heard of fainting goats up to that time so I was concerned that I had killed them with the mere sound of my voice, but the worker assured me that the goats would be trotting about again in no time flat. And sure enough, they were. What a relief.

Too bad your "goat trick" doesn't work with politicans, tax collectors, and all people on all "reality shows."

Oh, my gosh! That's funny and sad all at once! Sounds a little like tipping. Poor little animals! I wonder if it feels like cramps in their legs? I hope not. Some of those falls look pretty harsh.
LOL! I think they're OK! It just makes me laugh and laugh ...
I could be mistaken, but I think the goat at the end of the clip used to play quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons...
